Privacy Policy

The short version: this website does not ask who you are, does not create an account for you, and does not sell anything about you. The longer version is below, in plain English.

Who this is about

This policy covers englishlandpodcast.com, the website for the podcast EnglishLand with Leslie. It is run by Leslie, an individual podcaster, reachable at Englishlandpodcast@gmail.com.

What this site collects

Directly, essentially nothing. There are no accounts, no logins, no registration, and no forms on this site that send data to a server we control. We do not use tracking cookies of our own, and we do not build advertising profiles.

Two ordinary things do happen, as on almost any website:

  • Server logs. Our hosting provider automatically records routine technical information when a page is requested — IP address, browser type, the page requested, and the time. This is standard practice, used to keep the site running and secure, and is deleted on the provider's normal schedule.
  • Your own browser storage. The site may store small technical preferences locally in your browser. This information stays on your device and is never sent to us.

The episode player

The episodes page embeds a player provided by Buzzsprout, the service that hosts the podcast audio. When that player loads, Buzzsprout receives your IP address and basic technical details, and may set its own cookies, exactly as it would if you visited their site directly. Buzzsprout uses this to count downloads and produce the anonymized listening statistics every podcaster sees.

That data is handled under Buzzsprout's own privacy policy, not this one. We receive only aggregate numbers — how many people played an episode, roughly which countries they were in. Nothing that identifies you personally.

Links to other services

This site links out to Spotify, Apple Podcasts, YouTube and Buzzsprout. Once you follow one of those links you are on their platform, under their privacy policy and their tracking. We have no control over, and no visibility into, what they collect.

If you email us

The contact and topic-suggestion pages open a message in your own email app. That message goes to Englishlandpodcast@gmail.com, a Gmail address, and is subject to Google's handling of email in transit and at rest.

We keep correspondence so we can reply and so we can remember your idea if it becomes an episode. We will not publish your name, email address or any identifying detail on the show or anywhere else without asking you first. If you would like your message deleted, say so and we will delete it.

Analytics

At the time of writing, this site runs no analytics of its own. If that changes, this section will be updated to name the tool and say plainly what it measures. Any tool chosen will be a privacy-respecting one that does not track visitors across other websites.

Your rights

Depending on where you live — the EU and UK under the GDPR, California under the CCPA, and a growing number of other places — you have the right to ask what personal information an organization holds about you, to have it corrected, to have it deleted, and to object to its processing.

Because this site holds so little, exercising those rights is usually simple: email Englishlandpodcast@gmail.com and we will tell you honestly what we have (in most cases, only the emails you have sent us) and delete it on request. We do not sell or share personal information, because we do not have any to sell.

Children

This podcast is made for adult and teenage language learners. The site is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, email us and we will delete it.

International listeners

The show is produced in the United States and the site is served from infrastructure that may be located there or elsewhere. If you are listening from outside the US — and many of you are — any information described above may be processed in the United States.

Changes to this policy

If how the site works changes, this page changes with it, and the “last updated” date at the top will tell you when. There is no mailing list to notify, so it is worth a glance if you are curious.
